Three held in fake caste certificate case

Those arrested were Himanshu (26) and Vikas (24) and Ketan Gupta (24). They were arrested following a probe into information on a fake caste certificate racket being in operation. Two cars, which had stickers of a leading electronic media channel on them, 12 admission forms along with forged caste certificates and Rs 5 lakh in cash was recovered from them, police said.

According to the police, the kingpin in the racket, Himanshu Gupta, who did a course in Merchant Navy from Mumbai and  worked as a Third Officer in a ship till sometime back, allegedly managed to get admissions for 12 students, including four girls in eight colleges, this admission season.

The colleges, where students were allegedly admitted on the basis of the fake caste certificates, included Sri Ram College of Commerce, Kirori Mal College, Kamla Nehru College and Moti Lal Nehru College.
