Last Updated 01 August 2009, 16:58 IST

Though a post-mortem was already done at Government Wenlock Hospital in
Mangalore on Friday, the priest’s family was not convinced by its results which could not identify the cause of the death. The priest’s body was found on a road at Thottathady village in Belthangady taluk on Thursday morning.

Hundreds pay last respects

Earlier in the day, hundreds of people lined up to pay their last respects to the 38-year-old priest who was a vicar at the Kudrapadi St Mary’s Church of the Belthangady Archdiocese.

Senior Vicars of Thalassery and Belthangady and other archdioceses in Kerala and
Karnataka were also present for the funeral which was to be held at Vellad St Sebastian’s Church cemetery in the morning.

Funeral put off

However, the funeral was put off after the priest’s brother-in-law lodged the police complaint. Following this, the body was sent to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital for post-mortem again.
