Though the film didn’t do well at the box office, Aravind Kaushik established himself as a director to watch out for.

Soon, his second film Tuglaq will hit the screens and the director tells Metrolife that this time around, he has made sure he overcomes all the shortcomings he faced during his first movie.

The promos of the film, that have been posted on Facebook and Youtube, have generated a lot of curiosity. This has pushed Aravind to invite a section of the fans for a special screening of the film.

“The movie has already been certified and we are planning to release it by the end of July. But before the official release, I have organised a small screening for my fans which I would like to call as the ‘Tuglaq movement’. After the screening, we are giving away T-shirts with the name of the film printed on them and if the audience likes the film, they can take the T-shirt and wear it and spread the word for us,” he says.

The reason Aravind is going ahead with this unique promotional venture is because he felt that a film like ‘Tuglaq’ will not have a set audience. “It’s a new kind of cinema. One can’t really call it a love story or an action movie.

Tuglaq represents all those youngsters who are confused in life and can’t make up their mind. The protagonist of this film is a young man who is always confused about the choices he has to make in life. And he always finds himself thinking of what would have happened had he gone the other way,” he states.

So how does one get to be a part of this special screening? “I will soon advertise about the screening and give my mobile number as well. Those who are interested can call me for more details. It’s going to be fun as this way, I get to really connect with my audience,” he says. This will not be the only promotional tactic that Aravind has in mind. The director says that he has many more things up his sleeve but will reveal them at the right time.
