'Mahamasthakabhisheka' for world peace at Halebeed

The Jain temple that was constructed during Hoysala kings period has a rich history of 900 years and is also said to be the favourite deity of queen Shantala.

The Janma kalyana, Moksha kalyana and Diksha kalyana of the Theerthankara has fallen on same day this year and is considered to be auspicious by the Jain community. As part of this, Bharatiya Jain Milan branch, Adaguru Jain Milan, Hoysala Jain Milan, Kadadaravalli Jain Milan and Hongeri Jain Milan had jointly organised the mastakabhisheka puja mahotsava at the temple here at Bastihalli.

The 18-feet statue of Theerthankara was annointed with water, sandal, tender coconut, sugar cane juice, milk, rice flour, herbal water, chandan, flowers and others which was a visual treat.

The devotees watched the mastakabhisheka with religious fervour as the priests chanted hymns.

While women sang devotional songs, men were praising the deity in chorus.
 ‘Mahashanti dare’ was performed for happiness, peace and moksha for the whole world. Jain milan zonal director S P Nagkumar, Adagur Milan president A P Rathnaraju, Kadadaravalli Milan president Anantharamu and others participated.
