After a meeting with Palike officers, Ashoka told media that the BBMP had been directed to fill the potholes before July 30.

“As per the records available with the BBMP, as many as 32,380 potholes have been identified. Only 7,380 potholes have to be filled up. This will be done at the earliest,” he promised. Directions were also issued to fill any pothole within 15 days after it has been identified.

Admitting that there has been serious concern over the quality of asphalting, the Minister said that road maintenance will henceforth be the responsibility of the contractors for a period of three or five years.
