AEE suspended for ragpicker's death

BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah held AEE Ahmed responsible for the drowning of the ragpicker. The action was taken after Siddaiah had a discussion with Chief Engineer (SWD), Muniraju, who held Ahmed responsible for the laxity. Ahmed did not fence the SWD with a barbed wire after razing the encroachment on the SWD.

Leader of the Opposition in Palike Council M Udayas­hankar flayed the Palike administration for being callous towards public safety.

He said for the last couple of months Palike has been executing the anti-encroachment drive and has demolished many buildings at Kumbaragundi. It created a rift on the road due to the demolition of a temporary culvert but did not bother to restore connectivity, he added.
