ASUS unveils netbook

The netbook runs on Intel’s MeeGo Operating System for easy web usage & multimedia playback. It is powered by Intel Atom processor N455. Weighing under 1 Kg, this 17.6 mm thin netbook is an apt option for mobile computing.

Priced at Rs 12,499 it has 10.1-inch LED-backlit monitor, it is Bluetooth 3.0 enabled and comes with chiclet keyboard. Its super hybrid engine (SHE) feature optimises the system performance and battery life. The netbook is preloaded with cloud storage (Dropbox) for free to access and edit and also to easily sync files via cloud with all the devices seamlessly.

“In ASUS X101 netbook we have integrated the consumer's productive needs with his lifestyle requirements to enrich our customers’ experience. I am sure this new offering will bring in substantial traction,” commented ASUS Technology (India) Country Head, Alex Huang.

“Intel, along with its OEM partners like Asus, is bringing computing to first time buyers in the Indian market by making personal computing more desirable and affordable,” said Intel Director-New Platforms Business Group, Prashanth Adiraju said at the launch event.

These new Asus netbooks offer a fast, rich and intuitive computing experience and comes pre-loaded with applications for email, social networking, entertainment and education, Adiraju said. This is the second netbook launched in India that uses Intel’s open source operating system, which along with other features, make the netbook affordable.
