Parks to get a facelift in Hassan

When Ambika Ravishanker was the president of CMC, legislator HSPrakash had laid the foundation for the selected parks. Though the works had started a few months ago, it is going on at a snail’s pace. The tendering process was been completed recently.

The development work on the Maharaja park which is the major attraction in the town is going on.

For improving fitness
The park will have exercise equipment, benches for those who come for walks in the park, playthings for children and other works are going on, said the commissioner. The work of fencing a few parks will be taken up.

As soon as the rainy season is over, the works will begin and by December, they will be completed, he reiterated.

Tax collection campaign
A tax collection campaign has been started to collect water, shops, houses and other taxes due from July 27.

Every day ` 40,000 is being collected through this campaign, said the commissioner.
A few of the shops and establishments have not paid rents for a few years. And when asked, they always used to give excuses. As their demands have been met, they all are paying the dues.

The government has given permission to give the shops by the next season.

Increase in rent
Accordingly, a proposal has been sent to the deputy commissioner to increase the rents. He has asked for some information.

If the approval is given, then the new rents will be imposed and the shops distributed.
Those who had taken up the shops on rent earlier have locked the shops and gone.

Notice issued
Notices have been issued to 15 such tenants. These shops will be vacated and given to new tenants, he said.

The work on identifying the CMC properties is going on. Fencing will be put up around the public properties and sign boards will be displayed.

A lot of funds is required for this and once the rainy season is over, the work will be taken up, said Nagabhushan.
