However, it was decided at the meeting that programmes at village, hobli and taluk-level would be inaugurated on August 27. <br /><br />Representatives also demanded that a statue of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar should be installed. <br /><br />Earlier, the Zilla Utsav was planned to be held on August 27 and 28. <br /><br />Members at the meeting opined that rains would ruin the programmes and also said time for preparation was very less. <br /><br />Karnataka Sangha president Prof Jayaprakashgowda and other leaders demanded that a decision should be taken at the earliest concerning the installation of Wadiyar’s statue.<br /><br />Deputy commissioner Dr P C Jaffer said that a discussion was held with district in-charge minister and the government has accepted to install the statue. MLAs M Srinivas and B Ramakrishna also accepted the proposal to hold the festival in the last week of December.<br /><br />MLA Ashwathanarayana opined that funds should be sought from Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike as they were using water supplied from Mandya district. <br /><br />He also mentioned that illustrious persons from Kodagu district, the birthplace of Cauvery River, should also be feted on the occasion.<br /></p>
