The event started off with Samaagam which was attended by the alumni members of SIBM. One of the students presented ‘Ganesha Vandana’, the first performance of the event. The event then progressed with the play, ‘Kiteful of Skies’. This play was scripted on multiple events running simultaneously with different stories focussing on the barriers in people’s lives.

The next event was ‘Smiling Future’ where children from different NGOs came together to perform on stage. Neelima Makani, coordinator of the Social Responsibility Committee said, “We have organised this show along with the help of the group ‘Youth United’.

Every year, we bring NGOs to participate and give them a platform to showcase their talent. For different cultural events, we invite children from the NGOs we work with.”

The event had differently-abled children from various NGOs performing to a cheering audience. Each child displayed immense talent which left the audience applauding and cheering for more. The college also collected funds which were equally distributed among the NGOs.

The day was also special for the students and alumni as the SIBM alumni portal was launched. Himanshu Arora, an alumnus from the 2009-11 batch, said, “It has been three months since I graduated and it feels great to be back here. I used to be the placement coordinator and now I will be heading the Bangalore chapter of the alumni portal. This portal is a good opportunity for students and alumni to exchange information and keep the relationship strong. This event is also a great opportunity for students and the alumni to bond and we can advise them on their studies and placements.”

‘One Shot’, Nissan’s ad-making competition, was launched on the occasion and will carry on for a month. It is a platform for students to display their creativity and the winner will get an opportunity to work with Nissan on their next advertising campaign. The ‘Nissan Student Brand Manager’ award was won by Ronnie Bannerjee from SIBM.

This was followed by ‘En Vogue’, the fashion show and the first event of ‘Jazz’, the cultural and fashion extravaganza. Five teams participated and showcased their ramp-walking skills based on different themes. The team from SIMC won the first prize with their ‘Garage’ theme while SIBM with their ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ theme won second place.

‘Opus’, the singing competition, which was the second event in the ‘Jazz’ category, was held on the second day. There were participants from various colleges and companies in Electronic City. They sung different songs and got the audience to hum along.

The event ended with ‘Razzmatazz’, a dance competition where various colleges performed to different genres of dance ranging from fusion to bhangra. SIBM with their Lethal Bhangra team won the fist prize while SIMC were the runners-up. The event ended on a pleasant note as the old blended with the new.
