Last Updated 10 August 2011, 18:22 IST

From January to May, 2011, an increase of 22.4 per cent or 20,5991 visitor overnights were registered in the same period last year.

Encouraged by the good response, the German National Tourist Office (GNTO) ‘India Pool’ has decided to continue its “aggressive” plans to promote Germany as a “preferred leisure destination” for Indians.

‘India Pool’

Created in 2008, the GNTO ‘India Pool’ is a sales and promotion activity. At present, it is visiting Bangalore and Kolkata.

During its current visit to India, the delegation will showcase the latest updates, highlights and attraction for Indian travellers.

Travel trade

It will run destination training for the travel trade in both cities as well as make personal calls to select travel agents and tour operator offices.

Romit Theophilus, Director Marketing and Sales, the German National Tourist Office, India (GNTO), said that the marketing and promotional efforts were showing constructive results.

The third and last phase of the ‘India Pool’ sales activity will be conducted at Mumbai and Hyderabad from October 10 to 14, 2011.
