Lions club to plant 1 lakh saplings

The campaign is a part of ‘Lions of South India’s campaign of planting 40 lakh saplings that will be lead by Lions International President Dr Wing Kun Tam. 

Addressing the press, Lions Club District Governor P Kishore Rao said that Lions are planting 5,000 saplings of various species by involving Lions, NSS volunteers, school children and general public. The entire programme is under the scrutiny of Guinness Book of World Records and Limca book, he informed.

Cardiac centre

The district governor informed that the Lion Cardiac Centre will be installed at Kotekar   J S Hospital on August 13 by Lions Multiple Council Chairman Nagraj Rao. The centre is connected to Bangalore Narayana Hrudayalaya. Any person suffering from heart problem can get oneself checked at J S Hospital and the cardiogram will transfer the ECG to Narayana Hrudayalaya and experts will immediately advice the patient regarding the treatment to be taken.

Check up is free at the cardiac centre. Narayana Hrudayalaya has offered to treat the patients at concessional rates. He said that Lions club is planning to install three more such centres in Hassan, Kodagu and Chikmagalur.

Vision care

Lions Club will also launch an eye care project for the school children with the co-operation of Vasan Eye Care. “We will be screening the children through eye tests and if any defects are found, the child’s parents will be informed and also through our District Sight First committee, necessary corrections will be made,” he said and added:

“We wish to cover one lakh children under this programme.”

Installation

The district cabinet installation ‘Udaan 2011’ will be held on August 13. District Governor P Kishore Rao will be installed by Lion past international director A P Singh on the occasion.
