Youth stripped for 'harassing' girl in UP

The youth, Sanjay Singh, who invited the wrath of the self-styled moral brigade by constantly troubling a girl, was also made to eat feces before being beaten up at Dheekla village on Saturday.

According to family members of the girl, Singh and his friend had many times called the girl on her cellphone and  used ‘obscene language.’

Upon being informed by the girl, her family members, instead of approaching the police, decided to teach the youths a lesson. They, along with some others from the village, attacked them on Friday. The youths were, however, saved due to timely intervention of village elders.

When the angry-stricken family members happened to meet Singh on Saturday, they thrashed him, stripped and paraded on the street while other villagers remained mute spectators. Singh, while admitting to have spoken to the girl, denied charges that he had “harassed” her.  “I spoke to the girl only once that too with her permission,” he claimed.
The villagers involved in the barbarous act are said to be absconding.

 A case has been registered and manhunt is on to nab the accused, police said.
