A resident of Milk Colony, Dharmaraj said sacrifices are the need of the hour.
“When Anna gave his first call to the nation in April, I fasted for three days. It’s unfortunate that Union Minister Kapil Sibal has made such extreme observations about the civil society,” he added.

Software professional Ashley Nair (35), too has pledged to ‘fast unto death.’ He says the Union government is under a false impression that it can suppress the movement.

In health sector

Veeresh (26) who works in the health sector, has taken two days’ leave from work. “I work for a company that is into prevention of HIV. It is unfortunate to be part of a system that actually denies treatment and medication to the needy. I am here to register my protest against corruption in the health sector,” he added.

Attacking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on his Independence Day speech, homemaker Shobha Kini (59), who has pledged to fast for two days, demanded that Singh step down immediately.

More than 100

According to IAC volunteer Rohini Chandrakant, more than 100 people have registered to observe fast at the Freedom Park.

“While a majority of them will take turns and make way for the others to observe fast, 10 people have pledged to fast for an indefinite period.”
