Lokayukta DIGP transferred

Last Updated 22 August 2011, 18:57 IST

Mohanty, a 1994 batch IPS officer, has been appointed  DIGP and Joint Commissioner of Police, Crimes (West), Bangalore City. Mohanty held the post of DIGP, Lokayukta, since July 1, 2009, and was one among those who played a key role in the investigation into illegal mining in the State.

The findings of the investigation went into the report on illegal mining submitted by the Lokayukta to the government last month.

When contacted, Lokayukta ADGP Jeevan Kumar Gaonkar refused to comment on Mohanty’s transfer. The State government kept even Lokayukta Justice Shivaraj Patil in the dark about Mohanty’s transfer. In the past, the government used to discuss the transfer of officers with the Lokayukta and obtain permission.  His sudden transfer has raised many eye brows as he has a vast experience in investigating corruption cases.

Bifurcated

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Bangalore City, Alok Kumar has been transferred and appointed DIGP and Commander, Anti-Naxal Force, Udupi.

The post of Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Bangalore City has been bifurcated into Jt CP (Crime-West) and Jt CP (Crime-East).

Dayananda B has been appointed the new Jt CP (Crime-East), Bangalore City. Paul Amrit has been appointed  DIGP, Karnataka State Reserve Police, Bangalore and Sharat Chandra K V as DIGP, Intelligence, Bangalore.
