'Transform classrooms for better interaction'

Prof Talawar said the contemporary time demands competent teachers to manage class rooms and in this direction training of teachers right from nursery to secondary school stage occupy a pivotal position.

Professional upliftment of  teachers at all levels of Education must be undertaken with all seriousness.  Information Communication Technology (ICT) components needs to be integrated in the entire education system, he said.

Computer aided instruction (CAI) should become the hallmark of the modern class room. Use of over head projector (OHP), power point presentation of the lessons will go a long way in improving the teaching learning process. Social Justice must be promoted in teacher education, he said.

We want committed teachers and reflective teachers. Teachers should think critically and encourage students to participate in discussions in class. Participatory approach to classroom management is the need of the hour, he opined.

Prof G Ravindra, former director, NCERT New Delhi, gave a call to teachers to be happy inside the class room during teaching. A smile will bring down many problems in the class room. The affective domain (love, affection, feelings, sentiments, cooperation, concern, impartial behaviour of teachers ) will dominate in the coming decade he observed. He stressed the need for quality teacher training.

Prof Prem Lata Sharma principal RIEM and seminar director welcomed and appreciated the efforts of participants in contributing research articles to the seminar. C G V Murthy professor of Education explained the achievements of the three day national seminar.

As many as 35 participants participated in the seminar. Dr M U Paily associate professor proposed vote of thanks. N N Prahallada associate professor in Education compered. Prof G Ravindra Former Director NCERT New Delhi presenting a memento to Prof  V G Talawar Vice Chancellor University of Mysore at the valedictory function of  the three-day national seminar for teacher educators held at RIE Mysore on Thursday. Dr N N Prahallada associate professor in Education is also seen.
