Joshi was speaking at a programme organised by the District Kannada Sahitya Parishat (DKSP) to commemorate the meritorious achievements of departed Yakshagana exponents Sheni Gopalakrishna Bhat and Keremane Shambhu Hegde as part of the Shravana Celebration at Shri Durgaparameshwari Cultural Centre of Jayapura near here on Thursday.

“The achievements made by Hegde and Bhat are worth to be evaluated. Both the artistes had contributed in large scale to the Yakshagana field through their remarkable talents,” Joshi said. DKSP Honourary Secretary N L Subramanya said that Parishat has the responsibility to bring up young talented Yakshagana artistes.  Delivering the inaugural address, B V Ramakrishna Hebbar said that the Yakshagana is facing the danger of extinction due to the influence of visual media.  Eminent Yakshagana artiste Suresh Moily was felicitated on behalf of DKSP on the occasion.
