JOIN USThe dead have been identified as residents of Sharif Colony in Chikmagalur. They were heading for Chikmagalur from Bangalore in a car, when the bus hit the car from behind in the wee hours of Monday.
Israr (24), who was driving the car, Shabnam (17), Juned (12), Wasim (22) and Rehman (24) were killed on the spot. Imran, who sustained serious injuries in the head, has been admitted to a hospital in Bangalore.
His situation is said to be critical, the police said.
Minor injuries
Heera Naz (40), who was also travelling in the car, had a miraculous escape with minor injuries.
She is now being treated at a hospital in Hassan. The dead Shabnam and Juned are the children of Heera Naz.
The police had a tough time pulling out the bodies from the car, which was completely smashed in the accident.
