Last Updated 06 September 2011, 18:39 IST

Hearing the bail plea following the summons issued against them by the Special Lokayukta Court in two corruption cases, Justice L Narayana Swamy also directed the Lokayukta to file objections, if any. During the hearing, the counsel for the Kumaraswamy couple submitted that there is a likelihood of being issued arrest warrant when they appear before the
Special Lokayukta Court on Wednesday. However, the judge refused to buy the argument.

The matter was adjourned after the court directed the complainant to file objections.

Advocate Vinod Kumar had filed a case against H D Kumaraswamy and his family on the renewal of licence to Janthakal Mining company violating the norms.

Another allegation was also made about the bulk allotment of land to Vishwabharathi Housing Cooperative Society during his tenure as chief minister.

The complaint alleged that his wife Anita Kumaraswamy had received a residential plot in return for favouring the housing society.

In another petition by Kumaraswamy, seeking the  quashing of proceedings against him in the Special Lokayukta Court, Justice K N Keshavnarayana refused to advance the hearing. The Court rejected the prayer saying that the matter cannot be given prominence. The matter has been adjourned to September 8.
