The play ‘Elling’ will be staged at Alliance Francaise by Dramanon on September 11, 4 pm and 7.30 pm.

The playwright is Ingvar Ambjornsen and the director is Sharanya Ramprakash. ‘Elling’ is a delightful heart-warming comedy based on the cult Norwegian novel by Ingvar Ambjornsen.

The story is about Mommy’s boy Elling and his roommate, the uncouth Kjell Bjarne, who are the odd couple of Oslo. They are a pair of confused souls taking their first steps in the outside world after years of isolated, institutional life.

‘Robi’s Garden’
Vibgyor Entertainment and Bangalore Little Theatre will present their
annual spot production ‘Robi’s Garden’, from September 9 to 18 at three different auditoriums in the City.

‘Robi’s Garden’ is anoriginal script developed within Bangalore Little Theatre to celebrate Tagore’s work for and with children in the year of his 150th anniversary. The show will be held on September 9, 6.30 pm at Ravindra Kalakshetra, J C Road.

‘Good Grief’
Keenaav is presenting the play ‘Good Grief’, written by Frank Wilkie and directed by Vineet Nair, on September 13, 7.30 pm at Ranga Shankara.

A play titled ‘CiviliZation’ in Kannada, written and conceived by the students of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, is scheduled for performance on September 13 at Ravindra Kalakshetra.

The Shambhavi School of Dance will be celebrating GejjeNaada, the dance day celebration by Shambhavi Dance Ensemble junior wing, at Nayana Auditorium, Kannada Bhavana,  J C Road on September 9, 6.30 pm.

Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR.) in collaboration with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan will be presenting a bharata­natyam dance recital under the ‘Horizon Series’ on September 10, 6.30 pm at the Khincha Auditorium, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road.

It will feature bharatanatyam exponent Poornima Ashok, an empanelled artiste of the ICCR and Director, Nrityanjali School of Bharatanatyam.

Group display
Renaissance Gallerie is hosting a group show till September 9. On display will be paintings by Arvind Chaudhari from Kolkata, Kamales Das from West Bengal, Rajeshwar Nyalappali from Hyderabad, and Indu Kale from Lucknow.

The Alliance Française de Bangalore will host an unusual photo-exhibition, ‘Walls between people, from September 9 to 17.
The exhibition will open on September 9, 6 pm. Parallel to the exhibition, ‘Maraa’ will conduct interactive workshops which will involve the public in a reflection on the political, physical and metaphorical dimension of walls and conflict.
Genesis Art Gallerie, Jayanagar, is holding ‘Kirti — An ode to Lord Ganesha’, an exclusive exhibition of paintings of Lord Ganesha.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi, The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai and The Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Bangalore is holding an exhibition of Polish School of Posters (dedicated to film, theatre, opera and circus) by award-winning artists from Poland.

Fine strokes
Vincent Art Gallery, Banashankari II stage is organising ‘Stroke of Ganesh’, an exhibition of art works till September 11 at Vincent Art Gallery, No 2516, 17th Main, 27th Cross, BSK 2nd Stage.

There are 60 varieties of art work done by the artistes like Ambika Nayar, Ashok U, Flore G K, Jagadish Kadooru, Lingadevaru, Mahesh Sagar and Manjunath Nayak. The art work will have collage, line drawing etc. The exhibition will be open from 11 am to 7 pm.

‘Ananda Vana’
Rajamarga Kalasamskriti is screening Ananda Vana, a Kannada short movie with English sub-titles, on September 10 and 11, 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm. It is directed by Yogesh Master and the cast includes Kishori Ballal, Shankar Aryan, Yajna Shetty, Nagendra, Naveen Maganahalli among others.

Creative time
ARThouse, in association with the Alliance Française, will present the ‘Children’s Creativity workshop for Adults’ on September 11, 3 pm to 5 pm.

On September 18, 11 am to 1 pm, the workshop ‘Musical Objects’ and from 3 pm to 5 pm ‘We are music’ will be held.

Ustad Bale Khan Memorial Trust  in association with Antara Artists’ Collective is presenting Smarane 2011, the second annual festival commemorating the birth anniversary of Sitar Nawaz Ustad Bale Khan.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Infosys Foundation are presenting a light music concert by Dhananjay Hegde on September 8, 6 pm at The Indian Institute of World Culture, B P Wadia Road, Basavanagudi.
‘Soorya Festival’
The ‘Good Knight Soorya Festival’ will be held from September 15 to 20 at Sevasadan, Malleswaram with an aim to promote Indian culture.

The festival will showcase varied art forms from bharata­natyam to odissi and Hindustani vocal to Carnatic music by esteemed artistes.

Soothing melodies
As part of D V Gundappa’s 125th birth centenary year, a veena concert is being arranged on September 11, from 6 pm, at DVG Auditorium, Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs.

Vainikha Vidwan R A Dakshina Murthy, who belongs to the DVG family, will play veena and will be accompanied by N Vasudev on mrid­angam and N S Krishna Pra­sad on ghatam. This prog­ramme is sponsored by Directorate of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka.

Vocal rendition
A vocal performance cal­led ‘Compositions of the Trinity’ by Aishwarya Vidhya Raghunath will be held on Se­ptember 9, 6.30 pm at the Ba­ngalore International Centre, Teri Complex, 4th Main, Second Cross, Domlur II Sta­ge.

The Kala Premi Foundation is an organisation devoted to promoting awareness and appreciation of art, literature and culture.

Ananya is presenting Geetha Shastra Sinchana, a thematic concept series.
