2 die in accident
Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in the City during the last 24 hours.
In the first accident, a BMTC bus hit a motorcycle, killing the pillion rider on the spot on Friday night near Gundappa Circle on Bhoopasandra Road. While the pillion rider, Hanumanthe Gowda, 38, died on the spot, the rider escaped with head injuries, as he was wearing a helmet, however he sustained multiple injuries on the body. He was admitted to a private hospital.
In another accident Venkatesh, 35, was run over by a speeding car while he was crossing the road, on Friday night at Kengeri Checkpost on Mysore Road.
The police have arrested the driver and seized the car.
Discotheque raided
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police raided a discotheque , which was run illegally, on Bannerghatta Main Road. Based on a tip by the local residents, the CCB sleuths raided the place and arrested Lokesh Gowda (32) of Jaraganahalli and Manjunath (23) of Chennamma Layout in Thyagarajanagar in this connection.
Theft
Thieves sneaked into a house at HSR Layout and decamped with a laptop and gold ornaments worth Rs 5.5 lakh on Friday night. Police said the complainant Mrinmoy Bahayat had gone to Indiranagar for shopping on Friday night when thieves struck the house through the backdoor and made away with valuables.
Robbery
Two motorcylce-borne youths snatched a bag containing Rs 40,000 in cash, a mobile phone and a debit card from a woman at Begur on Friday evening.
The victim Tasira Banu was was returning home along with her mother-in-law.
