Bharat Ratna remembered

Engineers Day: Celebrations held in Mandya, Chnagar

Members of City municipal council (CMC), elected representatives and various organisations offered floral tributes to the bust of Visvesvaraya in Mandya at Cauvery Park.

CMC president M P Arunkumar, commissioner Prakash, social activist Surendra Koulagi, CMC member Hosahalli Boregowda and Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president M V Dharanendraiah were present. At Visvesvaraya Grameena Bank, Madhava Vadavi of NABARD offered floral tributes to the portrait of Visvesvaraya. Lead Bank’s Suresh Rao, Sathyanandaswamy and Mallaradya Prasanna were present.

In Chamarajanagar

Lions Club president K Balasubramanyam opined that the discipline and vision of Visvesvaraya is a model for students.

He was speaking at a programme organised by Lions Club at the Government Engineering College in Chamarajanagar on Thursday. Visvesvaraya is one of the most brilliant engineers the country has seen. Students should inculcate the values practised by the great engineer statesman. By constructing the KRS Dam, Visvesvaraya ushered the green revolution in the state. When he was the Dewan of Mysore, he even founded the University of Mysore.

Felicitation

Engineers C Anand and Ullas Gore were felicitated on the occasion. Cesc engineer Varghese, Lions Club secretary L Suresh, joint secretary Chethan, principal Dr K I Parashivamurthy and others were present.
