ABVP stages stir against Kuvempu varsity

Addressing the protesters, ABVP District Secretary Dayanand Tirugana said though the varsity has been a model for others for its quality, it is going against the interests of the students. “Because of the policies of the university, many socially and economically backward students are unable to go for higher education. This is a dangerous development,” he said.

“The varsity is infamous for corruption. The misappropriation taken place in giving scholarships to SC/ST students is a blackspot in the varsity’s history,” he added.

Dayanand said the university has totally failed to control the question paper leakage which is increasing year by year. The Higher Education Minister should immediately interfere in this regard and initiate disciplinary action against the people connected, he urged.

Probe should be conducted into the question paper leakage of UBDT Engineering College of Davangere. The controversial portion in the varsity curriculum should be dropped. A separate committee should be appointed to look into the corruption, he demanded.
