Addressing a press conference at the party election office here on Saturday, he said based on the Central Empowered Committee report, the Supreme Court had directed a CBI probe into illegal mining by the Associated Mining Company (AMC).

Also, the Central Empowered Committee report elaborated that illegal mining was thriving in Bellary, Chitradurga and Tumkur districts, Parameshwara said.

Soon, a discussion will be held with legal experts on the issue.

However, a decision regarding filing of PIL urging for a CBI probe into illegal mining in the State will be taken up only after due consultation with the high command, said Parameshwara.

Fake documents

AMC’s permit to conduct mining expired in 1996. However, by furnishing fake documents the company continued mining activities until 2009, for a period of 13 years.

Moreover, then chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had consented to the merger of G Janardhana Reddy’s Obulapuram Mining Company with the AMC.

Thus, a CBI probe needs to be initiated against Yeddyurappa as well, urged Parameshwara.
