Sources said Reddy spent most of his time praying and reading scriptures at the Shiva temple on the jail premises.

“He seems to be an avid devotee of Shiva. He sought permission to perform special puja at the jail temple opposite his barrack,” they said. He wanted an outsider to do the Rudra abhishekam on Monday, but the jail authorities did not concede.

Bail petitions

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has adjourned hearing on his bail petitions till October 14. Reddy’s counsel Raghavachary sought quashing of the case registered against both the accused and their release on bail immediately.

The CBI arrested them for their involvement in the illegal mining and put them in the Chanchalguda jail on the orders of the CBI court at Nampally. The investigating agency also sought their custody for further interrogation to extract more information in the illegal mining case. The Nampally court adjourned hearing on both CBI petition and their bail petitions to September 29.

Karapudi Mahesh, an accomplice of Reddy, appeared before the CBI authorities at the regional office in Kothi on Monday. The CBI sleuths had raided residences of Mahesh and Swastik Nagaraj.
