Over 100 cases of code violation

The election commission has also seized cash, liquor and other goods worth over Rs 17 lakh.

State chief election commissioner, S Suranjana said in Bangalore on Monday that a total of 104 cases of code of conduct violations had been booked. The election commission (EC) has seized Rs 5 lakh in cash in Channapatna and also liquor worth over Rs 10 lakh in three separate cases. And sarees and electronic goods worth over Rs 1.5 lakh have also been seized.

The EC has also booked 43 cases of violation of the model code of conduct against political parties and candidates. The highest number of cases are against the ruling BJP with 12, followed by the Congress with 11, JD(S) with 5, BSP with 2 and a total 13 cases against others.
