Astrologer, 4 in police net

Anand Kumar, 44, an astrologer from Garvebhavipalya, was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, Bharathi recently.

Natives of Sopur in Belur taluk, Hassan district, they settled in Bangalore two years ago and stayed in a rented house at Garvebhavipalya. The couple have a son Pradeep Kumar and a daughter Divya.

Kumar was a sorcerer and a habitual drinker and frequently quarrelled with his wife for money, police said. During one such fights on September 15, he hacked Bharathi to death, dumped the body in the bathroom and fled. Pradeep found his mother’s body when he returned home, police added.

Man held for murder

Police arrested a building construction supervisor in connection with a murder. Mohammad Saleem, 22, from Godhana village, Chhapra, Saran district, Bihar, allegedly murdered his uncle Aslam Ansari who had come to Bangalore seven months ago.

Saleem had employed a few boys from Bihar for construction work at Arakere and had made advance payments to them.


Ansari, also a supervisor at a construction site at Madivala, had hired two of Saleem’s boys without his consent.

Upset over the loss he suffered, Saleem picked up a fight with Aslam on September 26, stabbed him to death and fled, police said.

Burglar caught

Police arrested Babajan, 31, from Koramangala and seized a motorbike, a laptop and six cellphones, all valued at Rs 1.50 lakh.

Babajan allegedly burgled valuables from three houses in Madivala police limits recently.

In another incident, Vishwanath, 55, from Magadi Road and Ranganath, 38, from Rajagopalnagar, were arrested for allegedly picking money purses from passengers in BMTC buses at Silk Board Junction, Hosur Road and Koramangala First Block. Police have seized Rs one lakh from them.
