Fancy number auctioned for Rs 3.35 lakh

The third auction of fancy registration numbers drew enthusiastic response on Wednesday with the number ‘9999’ from the series “KA-51/MJ’ going under the hammer Rs 3.35 lakh.

The second highest bid came in for the number 0001 which was sold for Rs 2.13 lakh while the number 0007 under the series KA-51/MG, which comes under the RTO Electronics City, fetched Rs 1.35 lakh. Transport department officials said a total of 12 numbers were auctioned and the department earned Rs 8.20 lakh apart from Rs 75,000 from each of the 12 bidders as the fee for taking part in auction.

Speaking with Deccan Herald, Transport Commissioner Ramegowda, said, “The response is getting better each time. Despite Ashaadha month, we have received a good response and hope to get better in future.” The number 0099 went in for Rs 55000 and 0009 fetched Rs 50,000. The department had raked in Rs 1.80 lakh in the second auction held in May, for KA-03/MX series.
