The dead have been identified as Tandavaiah (50) of Holalu, his son Krishnamurthy, Siddaraju (40) of Kurikoppalu, Ravalaiah (60) of Hosabudanuru, Boraiah (60) of Yarahalli, Balakrishna (30) of Gopalapura and Rajanna (50). While six of them died on the spot, a severely injured Ravalaiah breathed his last on the way to hospital.
The accident occurred when the van they were travelling in collided with a KSRTC bus, while overtaking an auto.
They were heading to Sagarkatte to fix a marriage alliance for Krishnamurthy.
The impact of the collision was such that the bodies had to be extricated from the mangled remains of the van. The driver of the vehicle is absconding.
