Quota likely in deemed varsities

Medical Education minister Ramachandra Gowda, speaking to press persons, on Monday, said a proposal in this regard would be placed before the next cabinet meeting.
At present eight deemed universities were running medical colleges.

The government would take a decision such that these varsities which enjoyed the government’s assistance should allot 25 pc of seats to those eligible under government quota. If they refuse to obey the order the government withdraw the facilities extended to them, the minister said.

Ramachandra Gowda said he would not yield to pressure from any quarters in this regard.
“No matter whoever is running the institute. I will not yield to any lobby”, he said.
