Ministry's ultimatum for GFI

The Ministry stated that the government has received complaints from presidential candidate and chief of Haryana Gymnastics Association PV Rathree in a letter dated July 30, 2011 and various state units alleging that the elections were not conducted in fair, transparent and democratic manner as per the procedure prescribed in the National Sports Development Code of India (NSDPI), 2011.

In a letter dated November 1 issued by Shankar Lal, Under Secretary to the Government of India, the Ministry informed the GFI that the reports submitted by the government observer LS Ranawat, Executive Director of NIS, Patiala, and IOA’s observer Raja Sidhu, were also examined in detail providing the results of elections held on July 30 at Hotel Park View, Chandigarh.

In its letter the Ministry noted that the GFI did not follow all essential requirements like publication of the list of Electoral College well in advance.
