Retired serviceman killed in road mishap

The deceased was identified as Murugesh, 59, a resident of Ejipura.

According to the police, Murugesh took voluntary retirement a few years ago and settled down in Bangalore as a school van driver. Murugesh’s relatives were scheduled to visit him on Sunday. They were expected to reach Madivala from Tamil Nadu.

The victim was going to the bus stop around 4.30 am to receive them on his bike. The cement mixer truck brushed his two-wheeler when he tried to overtake it on 100 feet road in Koramangala. He fell down and came under the truck wheeler and was killed on the spot. The police arrested the truck driver, added the police.

Car driver robbed

Five miscreants allegedly thrashed a four-wheeler driver and fled with the vehicle in JP Nagar police limits on early Sunday morning.

According to  the police, the incident occurred when the victim, B H Satish, a resident of Kammanahalli, was sleeping in his vehicle in front of Aurobindo School in JP Nagar first phase.

The suspect woke him up and asked him the way to JP Nagar 8th block. They threw chilli powder in his eyes when he was about to reply, dragged him outside, thrashed and fled with the vehicle.

Within seconds, they came back, lifted a big stone to attack him. Satish cried for help, opened the school gate and rushed towards the security guards. The suspects immediately left the place, added the police.

Two killed

Harshad, 28 and Taurar, 27, both residents of the City were killed as the car they were travelling in hit a tree at Adalagere Gate near Gubbi, Tumkur district on Sunday. Negligence of the driver is said to be the cause for the accident. Three more persons who sustained injuries in the accident have been admitted to district hospital in Tumkur.
