City water supply to be hit

Last Updated 06 November 2011, 20:30 IST

Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) is all set to shift 100 MVA (Mega Volt-Amphere) transformer at Somanhalli to 150 MVA transformer at Subramanyapura.
Since there is huge burden on the Somanahalli power station which supplies power to the Jigani industrial area, Kodenagar and BWSSB pump houses, the KPTCL is shifting the lines to the existing transformer of BWSSB which was used as a standby. The lines will also be shifted as the 220 KV power station at Somanahalli had frequent trips as the station was overburdened.

A BWSSB official said the power supply to all the pumping stations will be shut down on November 9 between 10 am and 2 pm. Power supply to the pump houses will be resumed only after completing the shifting of lines.  Water supply will be affected on November 9 and 10, especially in Bangalore north and eastern areas.

Simultaneously, the BWSSB will also take up maintenance in the Netkal Balancing Reservoir and minor works at Tataguni and Harohalli stations.
