Three-day trade fair on organic products

The State government, in association with Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Food Processing Industries has organised the event on the theme “Organics - Beyond agriculture into new vistas.”

The fair will showcase organic products produced by farmers and food processing industries of India and other countries.  Seminars, food festival and organic buyer-seller meet have been organised as part of the event. 

On display will be organic cashew, tea, coffee, cocoa, cotton and ayurvedic oils, fruit juices, dry fruits, herbs, organic processing food, rice, honey, sugar and syrups, vegetables, natural cosmetics and personal care items.

BioFach global fairs are also being organised in the United States, Brazil, China and Japan, this year.

India has brought more than 9.2 million hectare areas under the organic certification process. The global demand for organic products has been growing at 25 per cent and the sale of organic products is expected to touch USD 100 billion by 2012.

According to trade estimates, the market for organic products in the country crossed USD150 million in 2010. The State government has brought out an organic farming policy and has been encouraging farmers to cultivate organic crops.
