The suspects have been identified as Tommy alias Jagga (30), a resident of Domlur, Venkatesh (25) of Domlur, Ram Kumar (19) from Kamakshipalya, Kullegowda (31) from Kunigal and Manjunath (28) of Doddagollarahatti.
According to the police, the suspects had hacked to death their rival gang member, Kumar (28), near BEML Park in Basaveshwarnagar on Sunday. Kumar was into auto finance and was in love with Lakshmi. While Tommy was in love with Gayatri.
A week ago, Gayatri and Lakshmi quarreled over an issue. Following this, Kumar called up Tommy and threatened him. In order to settle scores, Tommy, along with other suspects allegedly murdered Kumar. They accosted Kumar and two of his associates near a bar and abducted him. Later, they murdered him at BEML Layout, threw the body into the park and absconded, the police said.
