 Anti-rabies vaccine
The State Government’s health department had ordered to supply about three lakh vials of anti-rabies vaccine to meet the requirements of 24 district hospitals and eight medical colleges.

Following a tender notification, the petitioner and the respondents had been contenders to supply the vaccine.

BBIL had quoted Rs 197 per vial, while CB had quoted Rs 260 per vial.

The tender was awarded to the CB, which was challenged by the petitioners. They had stated that the respondent will be supplying drugs made of chicken embryo, which is banned in several countries following the threat of H5N1, (avian influenza).
