Woman, 2 kids slip to death in canal

A 32-year-old daily wage worker and her two daughters slipped to death in the Almatti left bank main canal on Monday afternoon, reports DHNS from Almatti, Bagalkot
district.

The deceased are Renuka Arjuna Vaddara, Chaitra (8) and Gayatri (6), all residents of the Almatti R S Rehabilitation Centre. While the Nidagundi police said they may have fallen into the canal when they had gone to drink water, people who had gathered at the spot suspected it to be a case of suicide as Renuka’s husband is a habitual drinker and there were frequent quarrels in the family.

Flow of water into the canal was stopped to help expert swimmers in retrieving the bodies.
A case has been registered by the police.
