Last Updated 12 December 2011, 20:20 IST

The police have identified the deceased as Rosy, Shilpa and Radha, employees of Shahi Garment factory in Peenya I Stage , Bangalore. The three had gone missing since Friday. Of the three, Radha was married.

The police said that the trio committed suicide, but the reason for it is yet to be ascertained.

“They had tied a single cloth through their waists and jumped into the backwaters. Fishermen informed us after noticing the bodies floating in the water,” the Hosanagar police said.

Police said the women visited Kabale church near the town and consumed alcohol before taking the extreme step. They have left behind a death note stating that their bodies be buried in the same place. A case has been registered at the Hosanagar police station and the investigation is on.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Rosy’s brother, Prabhu, said: “My brother Benjamin and Rosy stayed together and worked at the same place. When Benjamin asked her why she was not ready for work on Friday she said she’d come an hour late, but went missing.”

He said his inquiries at the factory did not reveal any problem there and the same was reiterated by Benjamin.“I am going to Shimoga now. We do not know why she had to do this. There was no problem even at home,” Prabhu said.

He, however, claimed that the three were very close to each other, and that Shilpa and Radha used to frequent their house.

A missing case was registered with Rajagopal Nagar police station in Bangalore.
