He reiterated India’s commitment to support the election process and the democratic institutions of Afghanistan.
Krishna congratulated the Afghan people, particularly the candidates, who despite the complex security environment and threats from terrorist groups, campaigned fearlessly, and the new voters who registered themselves in large numbers. “As a long-standing friend of the Afghan people, and a fellow member of South Asian Association for Religious Cooperation, it is gratifying to see the democratic process taking strong root in Afghanistan,” he added.
