<p>A nine-year-old student at the Oriental School in Suzhou in Jiangsu province told her guardian that she had been slapped by a boy classmate after their teacher named only as Gu told him to.<br /><br />The girl who had red marks on her face could not recall how many times she was slapped, but said the slapping did not stop till she felt her face burning, the China Daily reported Monday.<br /><br />Gu admitted her act but insisted she did it for the good of the students. <br /><br />According to the Nanjing Modern Daily, Gu acknowledged that she committed some "misdeeds", but said she "didn't beat them personally" to spare herself of the accusation of inflicting corporal punishment on the students.<br /><br />The headmaster said the school was "ashamed of the incident" and that the teacher was suspended.<br /><br />He said three students were taken to hospital, and professional psychological counsellors have been asked to help them.</p>
