Setting sight on the Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced, “Two hundred and sixty five feature films are eligible for the ‘2011 Academy Awards’ and joining this list is the debut venture of Sohan Roy — ‘Dam 999’. The film is distributed by Warner Bros Pictures in India.”

The movie had a week-long Oscar qualifying screening at Los Angeles from October 28 onwards which was a huge success.

As an icing on the cake, another achievement for the movie was that of the final 39 songs selected for the Academy’s ‘Original Songs’ category, three songs were from it.

These are composed by Ousephachan with lyrics by Sohan Roy. “This is a crowning achievement for ‘Dam 999’ and my dream project has attained the true recognition it deserves,” said Sohan Roy.

The ‘84th Academy Awards’ nominations will be announced live on January 24, 2012 in Samuel Goldwyn Theatre. The awards will be presented on February 26, 2012, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.
