No scholarships for students since 3 years

Delay in sending applications to depts deprived students of benefit

Accusing the school administration of the negligence in distribution of scholarship, members of the School Development Monitoring Committee (SDMC), parents and beedi workers staged a dharna in front of the school.

Students, who belong to the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe, backward classes and children of beedi workers, are entitled for the scholarship. None of the students in the school have received the scholarship for the last three years due to the apathy of the school authorities, they alleged.

The applications for the scholarship obtained from the students have not been sent to the Social Welfare Department and the Backward Classes Department even after the due date. These applications were rejected as they were sent after the due date. “The delay in sending applications has made students from economically weaker section suffer,” they complained.  

Besides, the school is violating the norm by demanding full payment of the fee.

Mid-meal prepared in the school with 750-800 strength is sufficient for only 350 students, they alleged. And, even the food provided here sans nutritious contents and taste, the protesters said. SDMC member Laxminarayana, Ahmad Khan, Narayanaswamy, Ratnamma, Nagaratnamma and Hogari Muniyappa were present on the occasion.
