Teen killed in hit-and-run case

Dies of internal haemorrhage; rider sustains multiple injuries in accident

The High Grounds traffic police said the victim has been identified as Asha, a first BSc (Bio-tech) student of MES College, and a resident of Kilary Road in Chickpet area. Asha left to college, riding pillion on her cousin Sridhar’s two-wheeler. When they neared the KFM junction, a speeding vehicle rammed into their two-wheeler and drove away.

Asha, who was thrown off the vehicle, suffered severe head injuries. Police said she might have died due to internal haemorrhage.

Imran Pasha, one of Asha’s neighbours, who happened to be passing by at the same time, alerted the police and Asha’s family. Parmesh, a traffic constable helped shift the injured to the KC General Hospital.

Sridhar is currently being treated for multiple injuries. However, he is out of danger.
Sources said that Asha’s father, Babu is a goldsmith and has three daughters. Asha was the eldest.

Tension in Lakkasandra

Tension prevailed at Rangappa Layout, Lakkasandra (Adugodi) on Tuesday morning, after miscreants tried to hamper pooja proceedings at Ayyappa temple.

Sources said that around 6 am, a few miscreants barged into the temple with petrol cans and created a ruckus. The priest, Sanjeev (34), was injured.

He was shifted to a hospital with more than 25 per cent burns. The neighbours, who noticed thick smoke bellowing from the temple alerted the police, who played down the incident.

In no time, the entire temple premises were cleaned up. The priest was also shifted to another hospital.
