Rahul attends candidate mom's funeral

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi attended the funeral of the mother of the party's Pilibhit candidate on Thursday. The sudden demise of Congress candidate Syed Zaki's mother made Rahul change his schedule immediately, surprising party workers as well as his security personnel.

“Rahul not only consoled the grieving family members but also walked for some distance with the funeral procession,” a source said.

Earlier, Rahul addressed a series of meetings in Shahajahanpur, Pilibhit and Bareilly. He continued his attack on the BJP, BSP and SP. “Mayawati’s cabinet is cooling its heels in jails,” he said.
