Man run over by truck

A man, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was run over by a speeding truck from Tamil Nadu at Hoodi Junction in Whitefield on Wednesday night.

Police said the victim was crossing the road when the recklessly-driven truck hit him and ran over him.

Passersby managed to stop the truck, but looking at the angry mob, the truck driver took to his heels leaving the vehicle behind.

Mahadevapura traffic police have registered a case against the truck driver and are on the lookout for him.

Held for plotting robbery

The Gangamma Gudi police on Wednesday arrested six people who were allegedly plotting a robbery.

The arrested are: Hemanth, Santosh, Ajay Kumar, Rajendra, Manu Kumar and Balachandar.

Police said the accused robbed people who were returning home late at night and their usual targets were shopkeepers, pawnbrokers and jewellers.

The gang of six had recently robbed Yeshwantpur-based Lakshmi Petrol Bunk owner Anuradha Jyothi of Rs 1.02 lakh and Britannia Biscuit regional distributor Jagadish of Rs 2.5 lakh.

They were trapped by the police while planning their next robbery.
