Cong, BJP two sides of a coin, says Yechury

Country divided among shining and suffering

Rajya Sabha member and CPM Politburo member Sitaram Yechury has termed Congress and BJP as two sides of the same coin.

“Both the parties  have come out with anti-people economic policies while in power. Both are facing corruption charges and have failed in giving pro-people administration,” Yechury said here on Sunday.

He was speaking at the 20th State convention of the CPM in the City. Drawing a parallel between the two parties, Yechury said while ministers of coalition partners in the United Progressive Alliance government had been put behind bars, the ministers of the BJP government in Karnataka too had been jailed.

The BJP, which raises a hue and cry over corruption during the UPA rule, adopts an enigmatic silence on the irregularities in its government in Karnataka, he added.

“The country is divided between shining India and suffering India. We have a few ultra rich people and a vast number of poor who struggle to earn even Rs 20 a day. The gap between the poor and rich has been increasing day by day in the country,” he noted.

He said all natural resources in the country need to be nationalised with a view to conserve them.
