Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who reportedly can’t speak properly, walk or recognise people, is in the campaign list of the BJP for the coming state assembly polls.

Vajpayee's name is in the list of BJP campaigners which the party is sending to the Election Commission for mandatory approval for the upcoming Assembly polls in five states including UP. On the other hand, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, who did not canvas in the Bihar polls due to objections from ally JD(U), also figure in the BJP's list of election campaigners.

Modi’s arch rival Sanjay Joshi is a key coordinator for the BJP in UP. Appointment of  Joshi, a former  party general secretary, in UP was strongly resisted by Modi. Close to the RSS, Joshi was suspended from the party after a sex-CD purportedly figuring him did the rounds in public,  a few years ago allegedly with the backing of the Modi supporters. Last year Modi kept away from the BJP national executive meet as he sulked Joshi’s rehabilitation in the party.
