<p>The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has bagged three Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU) awards for the year 2009-10 and 2010-11.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The awards were given for minimum operational cost (without the element of tax) and urban services during 2009-10; maximum improvement in contribution towards secretarial rebate during 2010-11, and as the profit making state-run transport unit in urban service. The awards were conferred during the 56th annual conference of ASRTU in New Delhi on Monday.<br /><br />Similarly, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bagged the ASRTU award for making highest profit of Rs 65.05 crore during the year 2010-11. Till 2000-01, KSRTC had a accumulated losses of Rs 328.45 crore. The Corporation, however has registered a surplus this year. This is KSRTC’s 35th award in the last three years.<br /><br />ASRTU is a body under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, consisting a representative body of 53 members from different states in the country.</p>
