In concert

Sanjay Divecha and Aman Mahajan will present a concert of classic and contemporary jazz on January 14, 8.30 pm at Bflat, Indiranagar.

‘Bengaluru Habba’

As part of the Bengaluru Habba, a Carnatic vocal recital will be presented by Lakshmi Natraj and Vidya Nagaraj on January 14, 6.30 pm and a jugalbandi by Prakash Sontakke on Hawaiian electric guitar and Jyotsna on violin at 7.15 pm. The venue is Chitrakala Parishat.

At UB City, a jazz and rock festival will be held. There will be rock performances by ‘Caesar’s Palace’ at 7 pm and by ‘Bhoomi’ at 8.30 pm.

The ‘Indian Art Trail’ will be held from 11 am onwards at Taj West End Art Corridor, Gallery Time & Space, Sublime Galleria and Mahua Art Gallery.    

Versatile: Sukanya  RamgopalVocal delight

Nadasurabhi Cultural Association is holding a monthly programme on January 15, 4.15 pm at The Indian Heritage Academy Hall, 6th Block, near Police Station, Koramangala. On the occasion, there will be a vocal recital by Vidwan

S Shankar. V Nalina Mohan will be on violin, C Cheluvaraju on mridangam and Sukanya Ramgopal on ghatam. Shankar is one of the senior most Carnatic musicians of Karnataka.

Having a concert experience of more than four decades, he is a top grade artiste of AIR.

He has performed all over India and the USA. He has to his credit many ‘jugalbandi’ concerts with senior Hindustani artistes as well. In this concert, he is accompanied by all senior artistes who have brought fame and pride to Karnataka, by performing on all popular stages for decades.

Film workshop

A film workshop by well-known German film-maker Harun Farocki will be held in collaboration with Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology. ‘Labour – In a Single Shot’ is designed exclusively for film-makers and studen­ts and will be held till Ja­nua­ry 25. The venue is Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology.

‘The Golden Dragon’

Olivier Award-winning ‘Actors Touring Company’ is presenting Germany’s most successful new play ‘The Golden Dragon’ till January 29 at Jagriti, Whitefield. On Saturday, it will be staged at 8 pm and on Sunday, at 3 pm and 6.30 pm.

 ‘The Golden Dragon’ is a tragi-comic tale of globalisation, set in the local Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese takeaway.  Through fun moments, this theatrical fable deals with larger socio-economic issues of modern life and migration, whisking one from one local takeaway to East Asia and back, revealing what really goes into that bowl of spicy soup.

‘Masala Improv...’

Yours Truly Theatre is presenting an interactive theatre performance called ‘Masala Improv Comedy’ at Yours Truly ALMA, CMH Road, Indiranagar on January 15, 7 pm. It is a purely improvisational theatre performance where actors enact reactions given to them by the audience.

 In this show, there are short games where the audience suggests situations and characters and the actors enact them impromptu.
