While remembering your college days, the college canteen surely can’t be left behind. At this watering hole, students not only get some food for thought, but also a break after and before their lecture.

The canteen of Kamla Nehru College on August Kranti Marg, is one such place that provides tasty food at a reasonable price. Dishes like honey and chili potato, samosa, rajma chawal, shahi paneer, butter naan combo and macaroni have a huge fan following.

Pooja Khandelwal, a student of M A English travels all the way from South Campus after her classes get over to enjoy the honey and chili potato here. Pooja relishes the taste saying, “After attending my classes in South Campus, I come here almost every day as the amazing food at the canteen pulls me back.”

Garima Singh, final year student of Sociology loves the macaroni here. When asked why, she says, “I have tried macaroni at almost every known eating joint in Delhi but the strong flavour of garlic and Indianised cooking style followed here makes this macaroni the best.” While managing to fill her tummy and attending her lectures, Vageesha Mishra considers rajma chawal as the best choice available at this canteen. Vageesha says, “Whenever we are pressed for time, we choose rajma chawal as they taste the best and are quick to eat.”

The canteen is so well-known for its good quality of food that students from other colleges also prefer to come here to satiate their taste buds. Nisha Yadav, a student of final year of B A (hons) English at Gargi College has been coming to the Kamla Nehru canteen with her friends, since the first year of college. While gobbling a plate of chole bhature Nisha says, “Good food available at a reasonable price draws us to this canteen every day and allows us to get away from our monotonous schedule.” She further adds, “The chole here tastes like the langarwale chole and bhature served here are so hot and fluffy that no one can stop binging on them.”

Sonali Khullar is a fan of the shahi paneer and butter naan combo available here. A student of first year Philosophy (hons), she says, “I love the shahi paneer and butter naan combo available here. It not only tastes good but is available at such an affordable price of Rs 40 a plate which is hard to be found at any other place in Delhi.” She is happy with the vast menu available here which fits well in the budget and provides her with a hangout zone where students can meet.

“The canteenwala bhaiyas are extremely helpful. They not only serve quality food but also allow us to relax and socialise after our hectic lectures,” Sonali sums up.
